UT Tyler Biology Lecturer Appointed to National Honor Society Council
Suzanne Pundt, senior lecturer in biology at The
University of Texas at Tyler,
has been appointed to a national college honor society council seat.
Pundt will serve a four-year term as Region II secretary-treasurer for the
22-member Alpha Chi National Council, which acts as the governing body for the
co-educational academic society.
A UT Tyler faculty member since 1982, Pundt currently serves as co-sponsor for
the university’s Texas Alpha Xi Chapter of Alpha Chi.
She holds a bachelor of science in medical technology from Texas A&M
University and a master of science in interdisciplinary studies from UT Tyler.
The Alpha Chi Honor Society has chapters at more than 300 colleges and
universities in almost every state as well as Puerto Rico.
UT Tyler’s chapter began in 1976.
Alpha Chi’s members are in the top 10 percent of juniors, seniors and graduate
students from all academic fields. About 11,000 new members are added each year
through invitation only.

Scott Garner
As
Director of Engineering Services, Scott has staff level, department head
responsibility over three distinct organizations (Design Engineering,
Engineering Test Laboratories, and Information Systems/Technology) in the
Engineering & Technology function.
There are approximately 100 people in Engineering Services, three
department managers, and many supervisors.
They are a global service organization located in 4 locations across the
United States with recent
expansion to Shanghai, China. His department’s annual budget is
approximately $13 million.
Scott
says his education from UT Tyler has been paramount to his success in the
professional world. “It is not very
common for someone with an Information Technology background to reach a
leadership position with the broad business responsibility that my position
has. I think this is a testimony to my overall
education from UT Tyler,” says Scott.
Scott
Garner currently works as the Director of Engineering Services at Trane in Tyler, Texas. He graduated with his Bachelors in Computer
Science and a minor in Business Administration from U.T. Tyler in 1987 with
honors.
